Elder Circle
Addition & Remodel
Katie Hastings AIA worked closely with the owners of their existing two-story traditional 1980s home to do a complete remodel to modernize it and improve the flow of the home’s spaces for their family. Approximately 1,100 SF was added to the 1st floor plus a new three-car garage to create a new private primary suite, open up and expand the kitchen with a walk-in pantry, new dedicated office, new playroom that opens up to the backyard, and new utility room/secondary kitchen. The 2nd floor was completely remodeled as well to create larger bedrooms and bathrooms for the kids plus room for guests and a bonus living room. All of the windows were replaced with new energy-efficient black thin-profile windows, and large sliding glass doors were added to the back of the home to bring in as much natural light as possible and create a better connection between inside and out in almost every room. The home now has a fresh and modern yet eclectic and peaceful vibe that reminds the owners of their childhoods growing up abroad and of their love for traveling as a family.
